Bistro Lotte

From its sage green façade to its rustic tiled interior, step into Frome’s ‘petite Paris’ at Bistro Lotte. This charming French bistro offers a delectable menu of traditional dishes like moules frites, tartiflette, and crème brûlée. The Archangel

Run by Butcombe Brewery, the restaurant focuses on quality and locally sourced ingredients. Their a la carte menu includes everything from classic fish and chips to sumptuous roast lunches, alongside Greek-inspired lamb dishes and Vietnamese curries. 

 

Coop Kitchen 

What to expect: dirty burgers, wings, and fries

For a more casual but equally delicious dining experience, head to Coop Kitchen. Known for its decadent dirty burgers, succulent wings and crispy fries, this spot is a haven for laid back suppers with a well-stocked bar too. The buzzing atmosphere, suntrap terrace and hearty portions make it an ideal place to gather with friends and family. Keep things simple with their stacked burgers and loaded fries or try something a little different with Canadian-inspired poutine or Oklahoma blue cheese tater tots. 

There’s also occasionally live music, making it easy to while away an evening in Frome with a cocktail or craft beer in hand.

The High Pavement 

What to expect: Spanish tapas and al fresco dining

For a taste of Spain in the midst of the Somerset countryside, The High Pavement is the place to be. This stylish family-run restaurant serves up a tantalising array of Spanish and North African tapas, perfect for sharing with loved ones. Enjoy dishes like padron peppers, grilled chorizo and salt cod croquettes. There’s terraced garden seating in the summer months and inside, expect candle-lit tables and a bar stocked full of independent wines.

At The Chapel, Bruton 

What to expect: pizzas, fresh breakfasts and fine dining 

Just a 20 minute drive from Frome, At The Chapel in Bruton offers a unique dining experience in a beautifully converted chapel. The menu features a range of exquisite dishes, from sourdough pizzas to seasonal mains and roasted meats, making it a great option for celebratory dining. 

At The Chapel is also open for breakfast with a bakery on-site too. They offer a delicious range of pastries, savouries and sourdough loaves ready to eat in as part of a cooked breakfast or to takeaway for a picnic at nearby Stourhead.

Roth Bar, Bruton

What to expect: farm-to-table dining and artful surroundings 

Located within the grounds of the Hauser and Wirth art gallery, Roth Bar combines farm-to-table dining with a visually stunning environment. The menu showcases the best of local, seasonal produce, offering dishes that are both creative and comforting. Curated by Oddur Roth, the bar describes itself as a ‘fully-functioning, site-specific artwork’ with an incredible installation made up of salvaged materials and objects from reclamation yards. 

There are indoor and outdoor tables with a focus on community dining at its core. Highlights from their summer sample menu include farmhouse cheeseboards, buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches and zesty tomato and buffalo salad. 

Keep an eye on their calendar for the next Sunday fire feasts and DJ sessions taking place throughout the summer.
