Beaches and watersports
The sheltered cove of Trevone is a beautifully sandy inlet to the south of Trevose Head. Perfect for families, the rocky ledges on either side of the beach are home to some great rockpools. Just around the coast is Harlyn Bay, which is a haven for watersports. Get out in the waves with the fantastic team at Harlyn Surf School, or explore the surrounding sandy bays of Constantine, Treyarnon and Porthcothan.
Food and drink
Five minutes outside of Trevone is Rafferty’s – a great lunchtime location for tapas and light bites, while just down the road in Padstow, you’ll find Paul Ainsworth’s No 6 and the lovely St Petroc’s Bistro for tasty dinners by the harbour. There’s a tempting array of local pubs nearby too, including The Cornish Arms in St Merryn. Rick Stein’s Padstow Seafood School will teach you how to forage for your supper, while exploring the world of Cornish wines at Camel Valley or Trevibban Mill comes highly recommended.
Festivals and events
Padstow’s annual Christmas Festival is the perfect way to kick off the festive season. Usually held at the beginning of December, this popular fishing village comes alive with an array of tastes, smells and sounds. The day is filled with celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, local produce and a lively Santa fun run. The biggest day in Padstow’s calendar, May Day sees the town come alive with flags, flowers, greenery and maypoles.
Time for pampering
Only a short drive away, you’ll find the award-winning Cowshed Spa in Trebetherick. Further along the coast in Mawgan Porth, The Scarlet Hotel Spa offers some of the best holistic treatments in the area. With an indoor heated pool, hot tubs and outdoor sauna, treat yourself to a spa day or evening. The Fistral Spa in Newquay provides a lovely setting to relax and unwind with a dip in the pool, or treat yourself to an indulgent massage.
Activities for children
A real children’s playground, Trevone and its surrounding areas have plenty to keep little ones entertained. Pull on your wellies and set off for a day on the farm at Dairyland Farm World, let the kids run riot at Camel Creek Adventure Park or take to the seas with a wildlife safari. With go karting tracks and zip wire experiences nearby to provide the adrenaline rush for the thrill-seekers of the group, you’ll never run out of options come rain or shine.
Outdoor pursuits
Pick up the coast path from Trevone and head towards Stepper Point near Padstow, which affords spectacular coastal views. The nearby Doom Bar and Camel Estuary are well worth a visit too. Trevone is surrounded by great golf courses, from Trevose nearby to St Enodoc less than 30 minutes away. For cyclists, the Camel Trail is a flat 18 mile stretch with The Snail’s Pace Café perfectly placed for lunch halfway.

We had a brilliant stay in Samphire house. Fantastic location. Close to beach, farm shop etc, and the house was immaculate. Very spacious. Amazingly equipped. No detail was forgotten. Plenty of constant hot water. Masses of cupboards and hangers! A great shoes holder at front door. All these added to make our stay perfect. The team at Perfect Stays were always available and happy to answer any queries.
”We had a wonderful time here, such a beautiful house, and gorgeous location, with all the amenities we could dream of. Comfortable, spacious and the teens had space they needed, and yet everyone could sit together to watch a film too. Highly recommend.
”Second year running that we've booked with Perfect Stays and for good reason - their holiday homes have been exactly what we were looking for and the quality of their service is truly very good.
”We really enjoyed our stay, a lovely village and a great position. It was all as expected and planned; easy to find and get in. It was great to have the sunshine in the garden for almost the whole day and evening too. The beaches at Trevone and Harlyn Bay were excellent, and I loved the golf we played at Merlin, Trevose and Perranporth. All my queries were swiftly attended to and I'm very happy with the service and welcome basket provided!
”We've just returned from a wonderful family holiday staying in Samphire at Trevone, near Padstow. The house is spacious, immaculate, well equipped and in our view was just perfect. The photographs don't do the property justice. The garden is totally private, ideal for small children and dogs. Perfect Stays, the letting company were first rate. We were so impressed we have booked another property through them for next summer.
”We've just returned from a lovely week staying at Samphire in Trevone. The property was fantastic - well equipped and spotlessly clean, with lovely views over the bay. You can walk round the headland to Harlyn Bay (great for walking off the effect of overeating at The Pig!), and Padstow (with more excellent restaurants) is a few minutes' drive away. Have returned thoroughly refreshed!
”Samphire is the most beautiful house - light, airy, quiet, spotlessly clean and exceptionally well-equipped. Our dog particularly enjoyed the long garden to run up and down! Trevone itself was a lovely village to stay in, with the beach, coast path, café and farm shop all close at hand.
We've found the service from Perfect Stays excellent and would particularly like to thank Emily for organising our dinner reservation at Paul Ainsworth's (which we thought was wonderful) and our photography session with Chris Hewitt. Chris did a really good, professional job for us, the photo session was good fun and the pictures are better than we could have hoped for. It all combined to make my mother's 60th birthday celebrations very special. Thanks again!
”We loved Samphire. What a find! The amount of light inside the house, its nautical theme and tastefulness of decoration and appliances helped to make our stay very enjoyable. The layout of the open plan living area enabled us to chill out together and to find a quiet corner to relax in. My son had his telescope with him and was happy star gazing from the glass veranda.
Trevone Bay is just a brisk walk away and is beautifully rugged - our four week old baby had her first visit to a beach here! Thank you so much for your approachable friendliness. Your local knowledge was very useful.
”Having stayed at Samphire once before, we were positively excited about returning - the house, as before, was impeccable and it almost seemed a shame to go out.
Once again we had some lovely meals at several restaurants, all just a short drive away, which were all recommended by Perfect Stays (especially loved No.6 in Padstow!). We were also very pleased to visit Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay - fantastic food and service and best table ever with beautiful view of the sunset! Looking forward to visiting Cornwall next time.
”We had a magnificent time at Samphire. The accommodation was light and spacious, set in beautiful secure gardens. Friends have seen our pictures and commented on how beautiful it looked.
All communication with Perfect Stays was professional and efficient. Their area advice was second-to-none. It is our third visit to Cornwall, and with their direction, we found some new lovely dog-friendly pubs serving excellent quality food. They even managed to book us super sunshine for our full 12 day stay in September. Hadn't realised they had such powers. No hesitation to recommend. Just book it!
”This is our third time in a Perfect Stays property and again we were not disappointed. The home was spotlessly clean and very well equipped which enables you to relax immediately. The layout of the property worked well for us, it was open plan and spacious with a really good sized garden.
We enjoyed our daily visits to the beach, which was only a short walk away. We also made the most of the cold, clear weather to walk the coast paths to Padstow and Harlyn. We highly recommend Cherry Trees Coffee House in Padstow, which have two dog-friendly tables and serve delicious cake with a lovely Bailey's latte. As it was so close, we also visited the Cornish Arms, again, highly recommended, delicious food and attentive service. We didn't appreciate that Cornwall was equally as beautiful in the winter as the summer and we enjoyed some stunning winter skies.
