Mini golf, gorgeous beaches and a holiday glow

From multi-generational escapes to small family getaways and reunions with friends, a holiday in Harlyn Bay promises a week to remember. Aside from its sandy beaches, surf-ready waves and fresh sea air, Harlyn’s playful character brings an action-packed itinerary as well as awe-inspiring natural beauty. What's more, Trelawn, Pentyak, Tater Du and the three Hideaways (Lizard, Longships and Wolf Rock) offer a beautiful base for exploring the north coast.

For a splash of inspiration, we’ve pulled together your very own Harlyn Bay itinerary, filled with new and exciting recommendations for a stay in Harlyn Bay.

Saturday

Arrive, settle in, choose your favourite bedroom and start unpacking. Once you’ve all had a chance to unwind, start the holiday in true Cornish style with an evening on the beach. As the sun melts into the horizon, bury your toes in the sand and soak up the salty sea air.

On your return home, hop into a taxi and make the short trip to Rafferty’s in St Merryn. A menu filled with quality seasonal ingredients and tailored wine pairings is sure to please after a hectic day travelling, and there’s even a menu crafted especially for the little ones.

Sunday

A relaxed Sunday wouldn’t be complete without a spot of golf or a leisurely boat trip. Home to some of the best kept greens in the UK, Trevose Golf Club is a haven for golfers of all abilities. Less than a five minute drive from Harlyn Bay, practice your swing in the high-tech performance centre before taking to the championship course for an 18-hole stint. If you can’t negotiate a morning to yourself, Greens of Padstow will satisfy all generations. Perched high above the harbour, get competitive with a hillside mini golf tournament before a relaxed brunch.

If golf isn’t for you, opt for a peaceful boat trip along Padstow’s waters. Hop aboard the dog-friendly Jubilee Queen for an afternoon of dolphin, seal and jellyfish spotting – you might even be lucky enough to encounter a shark patrolling the seas.

As evening draws nearer, regroup with the golfers for a sunset dinner in Padstow. Perfect for fine dining or relaxed suppers, a few favourites include Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant, Prawn on the Lawn and Caffè Rojano. Inspired by New York’s Italian cafè culture, this art deco themed venue combines marries Mediterranean and Cornish flavours, with sourdough pizza and homemade pasta to tempt the children.

Start the day with a sociable family breakfast before getting ready for another exciting day. A paradise for explorers, Camel Creek Adventure Park is a fun day out for the whole family. Release your inner child with the log flume and Ferris wheel before watching the younger members of the group run wild in the indoor playhouse.

As you return home, snuggle up by the log burner before an early night. With achy feet and special memories fresh in your mind, settle down for a family board game before heading to bed and recharging for another action-packed day exploring the north coast.

After the first couple of days discovering the local area and burning off some steam, it’s finally time for the much anticipated beach day. Offering professional tuition in surfing, stand up paddleboarding, coasteering and kayaking, Harlyn Surf School is a north coast favourite for learning the ropes of a variety of watersports.

Ever so slightly off the beaten track, Harlyn Bay is not only naturally beautiful but also one of Cornwall’s safest beaches, making it perfect for families. With an expansive crescent of golden sand, characterful rock pools and granite cliffs, there’s plenty to explore in between surf lessons.

As the sun goes down, keep your toes firmly in the sand with a seaside supper. Whether you’re firing up the portable barbeque or picking up pizzas from Embers in Padstow, grab a blanket and take advantage of the lighter evenings with a family picnic on the beach.

Wednesday

With a sunkissed glow and new skills under your belt, take some time away from the Cornish sea and sunshine for something a little different. No matter if you’re planning a small family getaway or a multi-generational escape, there’s always time for the adults to pursue their interests away from the little ones. Our concierge service is perfect for this, as we can find local and trusted babysitters to put you in touch with.

Whether you’re a wine lover or gin connoisseur, North Cornwall has the answer. Head to Trevibban Mill for a vineyard tour and tasting, sampling some of the county’s finest wine, cider and juice. For gin fanatics, the Tarquin’s Cornish Gin Experience is a must. A humble distillery overseeing the Cornish coast, embark on a behind the scenes tour, botanical masterclass and delicious tasting of the core gin range. What’s more, you can wax your very own bottle for a special keepsake.

If you’d rather try something different from the comfort of your holiday home, let us arrange a bespoke in-house wine tasting and find your new favourite Cornish tipple.

Thursday

After taking a day off from the beach, you’re sure to be longing to return to golden sands and azure waters. Seize the opportunity to find a new favourite by wandering along the South West Coast Path and exploring the surrounding Seven Bays. From the picture-perfect pale sands at Constantine to the grassy dunes at Porthcothan and the clean waves at Trevone, each beach brings something different.

Opening its doors in April, finish your Thursday with an evening meal at The Pig Restaurant in Harlyn Bay. Take some time to relax and switch off in front of the TV at the Hideaways before freshening up and popping on your best finery for a locally sourced dinner in a quirky 15th century venue.

As your holiday draws to a close, factor in some well-deserved pampering before returning to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wake early and head to Bedruthan Spa where a sensory garden, eucalyptus steam room and cedar wood sauna await. As the adults alternate sneaking off for an indulgent treatment, children can tire themselves out in the pool and soft play.

For the final evening, bring everyone together and toast to a wonderful week in Harlyn. Whether you’re fine dining in Padstow or indulging in a home cooked meal prepared by a private chef, get ready to bid goodbye to your much-loved holiday home until next year.
