Where Cornwall’s countryside melts into the ocean, Middle Hobby provides an enticing coastal refuge. Finished in sleek, modern interiors, this bright and breezy home is ideal for large group escapes by the sea.
With accents of lustrous metal and polished wood, Middle Hobby’s open plan kitchen and dining area leads straight onto the garden through expansive glass doors. Featuring a brilliant white central island, industrial style fittings and a grand dining table, this sociable space is perfect for laid back lunches with a view. The living room is cleverly sectioned off from the rest of the open plan area and features a crackling fire and flat screen TV. A zip and link bedroom with its own en-suite sits alongside a separate snug on the ground floor, which benefits from a sofa bed and Smart TV.
Edged by glass, head up the stairs and look out across gorgeous views spanning Brea Hill and Daymer Bay. A trio of tartan sofas provide an inviting spot to watch the weather roll in from the lounge or step onto the glass-fronted balcony to breathe in the sea air.
Five spacious bedrooms share a clean and classic style, with soft beachy interiors paying homage to the coastline. With four of the bedrooms enjoying their own en-suites, two with zip and link beds and two soaking up coastal views, the bedroom layout is well-suited to families and groups of friends. Adorned in deep grey tiles, a family bathroom completes the floor.
Lovely and private, the garden has been designed to maximise the views across the bay. A large dining table sits atop a paved terrace, while the lawn encourages little ones to let off some steam. Fire up the barbeque and raise a glass as the sun sets over the water. A short walk from Polzeath and Daymer Bay, you’ll be spoilt for choice with beautiful beaches. If watersports are your thing, enjoy sailing, kayaking and water-skiing in Rock, while a more leisurely afternoon awaits at the nearby Cowshed Spa.

Kitchen and Dining Area
Bright, airy and modern, Middle Hobby’s kitchen is adorned in crisp whites and stylish greys, making it a relaxed culinary haven. Complete with two Neff ovens and induction hob, plus a wine cooler, there’s plenty of space to share your favourite holiday meals. An American style fridge-freezer stows away weekly groceries, while the dishwasher cleans up in minutes.
A spacious kitchen island with oak accented stools provides the ideal spot for socialising, and a sleek mirror behind the hob ensures the designated chef doesn’t miss out on a moment of the fun.
Great for family dinners, the expansive dining table is undoubtedly one of the home’s high points. Awash in light purple tones, settle down at the table and enjoy breakfast banquets as you gaze across coast and countryside through the enormous bi-fold doors. A Bose SoundDock is a wonderful finishing touch to the room, encouraging early morning rises where a morning playlist is sure to put a spring in your step. When the winter chill sets in, light the wood burner and fill the space with warmth for cosy after-dinner drinks.
Please note that guests with pacemakers should avoid using the induction hob as this can interfere with the device.
Living Area
Vibrant artwork, bright cushions and a curved navy sofa are the focal points of the living area. Continue the socialising late into the night, where the Smart TV and Netflix can provide background entertainment for the evening.
TV Room
Another Smart TV and Netflix subscription make this room the perfect hideaway for stormy days, whilst the lively artwork and berry tones add character. Slump into the charcoal sofa and relax to the backdrop of the waves as you while away quiet afternoons in front of the TV. Also doubling up as the sixth bedroom, the sofa bed can comfortably sleep two younger guests.
Bedroom Five with En-suite
Predominantly neutral and laid back in design, bedroom five is bright and breezy. Playful cushions and a colourful throw inject a splash of colour to the space, whilst the zip and link bed offers the versatility of two singles or a super king.
Awash in grey and white tones, bedroom five’s en-suite features a waterfall shower.
Utility
With direct outdoor access, a washing machine, tumble dryer and wall mounted de-humidifier are handy additions to the utility, freshening up sandy beach towels and wetsuits with ease.
WC
A WC occupies the ground floor.

Daymer Bay
Beaches and watersports
Backed by sand dunes, the beautiful Daymer Bay looks across the Camel Estuary and is dog-friendly all year round. Just along the coast path towards Polzeath is the quieter Greenaway Beach, while the expansive Rock Beach is in the opposite direction. This stretch of coastline is perfect for coasteering with Cornish Rock Tors, and Polzeath is one of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall. Rock is also well known for sailing, with the watersports haven of Harlyn Bay also nearby, ideal if you're looking to try something new and exciting on your next escape.
Outdoor pursuits
The walk from Daymer Bay to Polzeath is highly recommended and there are some stunning routes around Pentire Head and across to Port Isaac. Catch the water taxi to Padstow or drive to Wadebridge to embark on the scenic Camel Trail - a flat, family-friendly path for walkers and cyclists. Golfers will love the renowned St Enodoc Golf Club, just 10 minutes away, and Trevose Golf Club and Bowood Golf Club are about 35 minutes by car.
Food and drink
The Waterfront and Cracking Crab in Polzeath are extremely popular and the Four Boys Café, The Pityme Inn and The Dining Room are delectable dining options in Rock. For casual meals and post-sail drinks, try The Mariners in Rock, which is run by Paul Ainsworth. For special occasion meals and award-winning cookery schools, head to the foodie mecca of Padstow just across the estuary. Daymer Bay is also surrounded by vineyards, including Trevibban Mill and Camel Valley.
Activities for children
There are plenty of alternatives to family beach days nearby, including the Camel Creek Adventure Park and Dairyland Farm World, where little ones can meet a variety of farmyard animals. Younger children will relish rainy days spent at the charming Macdonald’s Farm near Porthcothan. For history enthusiasts, we’d recommend an educational day trip to the mythical Tintagel Castle, which is about 35 minutes away by car.
Time for pampering
Just a stone’s throw from Daymer Bay is the rustic-luxe Cowshed Spa at the St Moritz Hotel. The ultimate space to relax and unwind, opt for a quick beauty fix or an indulgent full or half day package. The St Enodoc Spa in Rock is a great alternative option for holiday pampering, with a range of restorative treatments on offer. From deluxe facials to bespoke body massages, indulge in a moment of calm in one of the many luxurious nearby spas. Slightly further afield, The Scarlet is home to an open air sea-view hot tub, perfect for soaking up the fresh Cornish air after a calming facial or invigorating massage.

We booked a lovely house (Middle Hobby) through Perfect Stays and had a thoroughly brilliant experience. The house is very well appointed, immaculately maintained and has fabulous uninterrupted views to Brea Hill and Daymer Bay. Perfect Stays are a pleasure to interact with and answered our questions at both the booking stage and whilst we were there (thank you, Megan.) I can completely recommend that part of Cornwall, that particular house and Perfect Stays as an organisation. We will definitely be booking our future Cornwall family holidays through them!
”Perfect Stays are an excellent holiday home company. They're responsive, honest and helpful. They had been telling me Middle Hobby was a great house but previously we had enjoyed houses that were directly adjacent to the sea so it took me time to come around!
Well, when we arrived the views were breathtaking, the house was spacious, quiet and well-equipped. There is no need to be right on the sea when the countryside and surrounding area are fantastic. All the rooms are great but a bonus is the upstairs sitting area and balcony, where we sat and chilled and also had early evening drinks watching the sun go down. The short walk to the beach over the fields, golf course and past St Enodoc's church is not arduous and in fact a joy in itself.
We walked with the dogs, swam in the sea and paddle boarded, as well as visited Padstow and Port Isaac. Perfect Stays, including their local Holiday Home Management Company were brilliant both before, during and after the holiday. Full marks again, we will be back and I will listen more carefully next time!
”Middle Hobby was a fantastic house and location for our Christmas family get-together, everything was just as we expected and the booking and handling was very professional and without any complications. Thanks very much Perfect Stays.
”Perfect home for a family holiday. Everything has been thought of for anyone choosing this beautiful holiday home. We've stayed in various homes in Polzeath and Daymer Bay over the last 10 years and this is by far the best! We'll be booking this again as soon as we can.
”Middle Hobby was a wonderful house with a great living area and brilliantly equipped kitchen. I couldn't fault it in any way.
”We stayed at Middle Hobby, it's an amazing house and we loved it there. The location is ideal and Perfect Stays advised me exactly how to get to the beach and what was what when I booked. Very good service, and I'd highly recommend!
”It's the views from Middle Hobby that make it so special and the house is very cleverly designed to enjoy them - especially from the top living room and front bedrooms. It's all very well thought through to overlook the fields of cattle, tumulus, golf course, the spire of St Enodoc's church and the estuary, as well as Padstow in the distance. The nearby road is not visible at all and you don't feel overlooked. The house itself is nicely laid out, light and spacious with three separate living areas. It's a perfect spot for a large family holiday.
”The service from the time we booked has been excellent from Perfect Stays. We have booked a lot of holiday cottages in the past and Perfect Stays are a step ahead with a level of unique personal service. The property is modern, finished to a very high standard and is a short walk from Daymer Bay and local amenities. The floor to ceiling windows provide a superb level of natural light, with excellent views of the bay which makes the whole house feel very relaxed.
”Middle Hobby is beautifully situated in Daymer Bay, with St Enodoc golf course just a short walk away. The house is very spacious and well thought out for families. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly want for a stress free stay. There are few places that I would give an unequivocal review but Middle Hobby is certainly one and we intend to return next year. Thank you to all at Perfect Stays.
