Comfortably sleeping 14 to 16 people, Tamarisks is a great place to bring together family and friends. A spacious living area, outdoor kitchen and newly installed media room with projector and games console means there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Set over two floors, the eight bedrooms have been tastefully renovated with a soft coastal colour palette of blues, whites and neutrals. Every detail has been considered and many of the rooms enjoy sensational sea views - find a quiet corner, grab a book and enjoy a moment of calm as you watch the waves roll in.
The two-tier, flagstone terrace wraps around the house to make the most of the panoramic views. The barbeque and outdoor kitchen create a haven for budding chefs, and an idyllic spot to cook a feast for the whole family.
Tamarisks has a wealth of history. Dating back to 1904, it was created as a quiet sanctuary from busy London life and the same remains true today. Its peaceful surroundings and stunning sea views create a wonderfully calming atmosphere and allow your worries to melt away as soon as you walk through the door. Try meandering down to Hope Cove Beach for a lazy day by the water, enjoy lunch at The Hope and Anchor pub and then pop back to the house for cocktails on the terrace as the sun sets.
Situated in the picture-perfect village of Hope Cove, Tamarisks is ideally placed to explore the beautiful South Devon coast. With Salcombe, Bigbury-on-Sea and Dartmouth just a short drive away, there's so much on your doorstep to discover.

Hidden away underground beneath the terrace, Tamarisk’s media room is accessed via a ‘secret’ spiral staircase. Complete with a PlayStation 4 Pro, Yamaha sound system and access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV, this media room is the perfect retreat for rainy days.
Head down the steps with a bowl of popcorn and spend hours playing pool, foosball and air hockey on the multi games table. Or take a seat on the low-slung sofas and switch on the projector for a movie night.
The addition of a small kitchen and wc mean teenagers can break away from the group for an afternoon or evening with everything they need to keep entertained.
More about theExterior
Media Room
Perched above the garage and accessed via an external staircase, the media-room-turned-den offers a high-spec chill-out space for teenagers, film fanatics and those simply wanting to escape the hub of the group. Complete with a PlayStation 4 Pro, ceiling projector, Yamaha sound system and Bluetooth speakers, pile in and cosy up to watch your favourite Netflix or NowTV shows on the TV. There's also a multi-level games table, offering the choice of air hockey, pool and table football to fill the afternoons with competitive spirit.
The kitchen area has a fridge, microwave and sink to transform the space into a rainy day refuge, as well as a breakfast bar for preparing cinema-ready snacks. Atmospheric lighting and trendy low-level beanbags make the space cosy and inviting, while splashes of blue and porthole windows add an element of seaside fun. There’s also a handy W/C for those marathon movie weekends, and direct access onto the lower-level terrace via a spiral staircase.
Terrace
Panoramic views across Hope Cove Beach and the ocean beyond are what make the outdoor space at Tamarisks so special. With a pizza oven, fire pit and barbeque looking out across the water, the two-tier terrace is a picturesque setting to drink and dine in style.
Keen barbeque chefs will find everything they need in the outdoor kitchen, from a built-in grill and handy sink to a drinks fridge promising ice cold beers. There’s plenty of outdoor seating with a huge dining table for family dinners, and a relaxed corner sofa for when the sun goes down. Up on the second terrace, you’ll find sun loungers that are perfect for taking in the view.
Garden
At the back of the house sits a retired formal show garden, a peaceful spot that was visited and loved by the public in its previous life. Now a tranquil oasis for families to relax, there’s an outdoor dining table plus an additional barbeque for al fresco lunches on the elevated courtyard. Two outdoor cedar wood showers are on hand for warming up after morning sea swims, while seating is tucked beneath the trees for those more comfortable in the shade.
Stepping through the gap in the feature stone wall, you’ll find a mural paying tribute to Tamarisks’ seaside setting, made out of mussel shells collected on the beach below. Closer to the house, there’s a convenient outdoor tumble dryer unit to take care of beach day essentials.
Please note: Tamarisks is accessed via steep stairs at the front of the property so we wouldn't recommend it for guests with limited mobility. As the garden is terraced with several sets of steps throughout, as well as some steep drops, young children should be supervised at all times while in the external areas.
Parking
At the front of the house, there’s a double garage offering private parking for two cars, as well as an EV charger. An additional two cars can be parked on the track opposite the garage.

We have just had the most perfect week in Hope Cove in Devon in a spectacular property called Tamarisks. Perfect Stays were in fact 'perfect' from beginning to end. Lovely staff and very efficient in every way. We can't wait to go back or to use Perfect Stays to book another outstanding holiday - thank you Perfect Stays.
”Tamarisks is a beautiful property with stunning views and facilities. It's very clean with comfortable beds and it's lovely to be greeted with complimentary cakes and scones on arrival.
”With lots of space to be together or apart, the property suited the needs of four generations. The house is practical yet stylish and very well-equipped. The media room is a great success and the garden above is beautiful. We'll definitely be back again!
”We booked Tamarisks for a special holiday, with family visiting from Australia, so had high hopes. Happily they were realised. The house is in a spectacular position, with wonderful views. The outdoor space is fantastic and we were lucky to enjoy good weather, so could make the most of this. The living areas were spacious and all furnishings and equipment were high quality. Across the two floors and annexe we had plenty of mugs / glasses etc although we found things moved between the floors, depending on where we had cooked and eaten! The outdoor showers were useful on a return from the beach. The garden is exceptionally pretty and well kept. Hope Cove is a great little village and we ate in both pubs. The Cove was particularly good, with a lively but low key atmosphere and efficient front of house. We would certainly recommend Tamarisks for a special trip. Our Aussie guests were delighted at a luxury home in a picture perfect spot of English coastline.
”An unbelievably beautifully renovated property where everything has been thought of. Fantastic for a special family/group getaway, whether in summer or during the colder months. We have already rebooked for next year!
”Another brilliant holiday in Hope Cove. The perfect place for three generations (and their dogs) to get together for a week. With three kitchens, there was plenty of space to prepare meals, be together, watch films, dine outside, play pool and so much more! Even though the sea was freezing as it was the first week of April, the younger ones all went in most days. Thank you!
”We had the most amazing stay at Tamarisks in Hope Cove, Devon. The welcome pack was very generous and delicious - particularly the carrot cake. The accommodation was super clean, spacious, superbly equipped with views to die for. The team and concierge service were very attentive and helpful. We were extremely pleased with our choice.
”We really did have the perfect stay in Tamarisks in April. There were loads of spaces so that people could choose to be together or have some quiet time by themselves - for example in the annexe. The cinema/games room was a total hit with the teenagers and their parents! The view was spectacular and the dogs loved the garden and all the company.
