Meanwhile, the sleek family bathroom features a large bath tub and a heavenly waterfall shower. The utility room is conveniently placed at the side of the house, perfect for storing sandy surfboards and kicking off welly boots after days on the beach. Upstairs, cook delicious suppers in the modern kitchen, challenge friends to games of chess in the snug, or enjoy balmy summer evenings relaxing on the sea-view balcony.
Whether the sun blazes or the Atlantic waves crash, Seathrift’s heated swimming pool provides a sanctuary of calm for rest or play (April – October). Wake up early and go for an invigorating dip before breakfast, or spend sunny days poolside with family and friends. The pizza oven, barbeque and outdoor dining table welcome open-air entertaining, reminiscent of holidays abroad without the need to step foot on a plane.

Kitchen and Dining Area
Upstairs is the true heart of the home, where the open plan kitchen, dining and living room all blend seamlessly together. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide an impressive backdrop, with views spanning the blue ocean as far as the eye can see. An ode to Cornwall’s surfing scene, vintage surfboards and memorabilia decorate the space, making it a true coastal bolthole.
Finished in muted greens with marble countertops and rustic brick flooring, Seathrift’s kitchen is a real masterpiece, with views both out to sea and across the garden. There’s a Neff electric induction hob, oven and combi microwave oven, plus two Miele dishwashers and an American-style LG fridge freezer. The uniquely shaped kitchen island invites everyone to pull up a bar stool and plan the day’s adventures over a coffee from the Nespresso Magimix. There's also a spacious dining table to gather together at dinner time.
Please note: guests with pacemakers should avoid using the induction hob as this can interfere with the device.
TV Room
Hidden at the back of the living space is the TV room. Complete with a sumptuous corner sofa, Panasonic Smart TV and PlayStation 4, younger guests will love to break away for the evening to watch their favourite films.
Living Area and Snug
Looking out across the ocean, the sociable living area is framed by an expanse of glass doors. During the summer, slide them open to enjoy an early evening tipple on the balcony. Play your favourite music through the built-in SONOS speakers, or simply enjoy the sound of the crashing waves beneath you.
Come winter, light the Austroflamm wood burner and curl up on the sofa to chat long into the evening. This is the best seat in the house to watch the famous Porthleven storms roll in from the harbour.
For those needing to catch up on emails or steal some time to themselves, a separate snug just off the living area promises a moment’s peace from the hub of the group. Along with a coffee table and chairs, Seathrift’s surf-style decor runs through the space to make it a real home from home, perfect for board games.
WC
Brought to life with sailboat wallpaper, industrial style lighting and a feature mirror, there’s a convenient WC just outside the TV room.

Porthleven
Food and drink
Over the last few years, Porthleven has become a hub for high quality restaurants, cafés and delis. From miso scallops to Cornish duck with pomegranate and star anise, foodies will love the Asian inspired dishes served up at Kota. Set right on the harbour front, it’s a great spot for a quiet meal overlooking the picture-perfect fishing harbour. For something a little more casual, try Amelies, where you can expect excellent service, great Mediterranean food and a laid-back atmosphere. Or if you’re just after a flat white with a slice of cake, look no further than the stylish Origin Coffee Shop at Harbour Head.
Outdoor pursuits
Set just outside Porthleven, Penrose is a beautiful wooded estate featuring Cornwall’s largest natural lake. With miles of tracks and open parkland, it’s an ideal spot for families to enjoy time together and burn off excess energy. If you’re looking for something a little more energetic, try paddle boarding around the picturesque harbour in Porthleven, or hire kayaks from Vertical Blue and explore nearby hidden coves and quiet beaches. For golfers, take time to play the course at Praa Sands or drive 20 minutes to enjoy Mullion Golf Club, the UK’s most southerly course.
Heritage and culture
A trip to St Michael’s Mount is a must for anyone visiting this part of Cornwall. It’s a magical experience for children as they approach the castle along the granite causeway at low tide. 16th-century Godolphin House is a short ten minute drive away and a lovely spot to spend a sunny afternoon. We recommend taking a picnic and enjoying a leisurely lunch amongst the apple trees in the orchard. Alternatively, head south and explore the iconic Lizard Lighthouse, where you’ll discover the hidden maritime history of this rugged coastline.
Activities for children
Nearby Flambards will be a surefire hit with children of all ages, featuring family-friendly rides and a life size Victorian village. Porthleven Spy Museum Treasure Trail is another great option and an exciting way for little ones to explore the area’s monuments and landmarks. For animal lovers, you can’t beat a trip to the nearby Cornish Seal Sanctuary. Feed the seals during morning breakfast rounds or watch these beautiful animals close up in the underwater viewing area.
Festivals and events
The hugely popular Porthleven Food Festival takes over the town for two days every April and welcomes a whole host of renowned chefs, food producers and live music acts. Culdrose Air Day is another great choice, with flying displays, state-of-the art aircraft to explore and lots of family-friendly activities. For an authentic Cornish experience, you can’t miss the ancient Flora Day festival. Enjoy the colourful pageant of Hal an Tow and dance along with the parades as they meander through the town.

Perfect Stays are a very good company to deal with. Communication with them has been first class. Highly delighted with the property we chose to holiday in. Stunning location, great facilities, and the swimming pool was a great success despite disappointing weather. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wishing to holiday in an upmarket property in Cornwall, I would definitely book with them in the future.
”Seathrift is a gorgeous house in Porthleven. For once, the brochure photos were accurate, and the house and sea views did not in any way disappoint. The house was sparkling clean when we arrived and small concerns were promptly and efficiently dealt with by Sam via text. The house is a 10 minute walk from the town, restaurants and the beach. This was ideal as we had a toddler in tow. We could have parked the car for two weeks and never used it. The whole family loved it, and we intend to book again next year.
”We had a truly wonderful stay at Seathrift. Pure luxury with relaxation at the heart of the house. The pool was very warm and a great addition which was loved by all. A great weekend celebrating milestone birthdays whilst allowing space for exam revision for our teenagers (lots of small spaces to retreat to for this purpose.) Highly recommend and now slightly addicted to staying in these gorgeous homes!
”We made a last minute booking, in fact it was on the day of check-in. The response was fantastic and everything was arranged with super efficiency. The property was a new house and as you might imagine it was fantastic. It was in a fabulous location in our favourite place in Cornwall. There were a few niggles which would be expected for a new property BUT this did NOT spoil our stay in anyway whatsoever. 11/10!
