Kissed by salty sea spray, this home began life 200 years ago as a pair of fisherman’s cottages, married together with their former net loft. Having been beautifully designed by RA Architects as a ground-up reconstruction, Salt Spray retains much of its original charm while embracing a contemporary, eco-spec finish.
With Luxurious Magazine naming it the "best for seaside living", Salt Spray's interiors are a beautiful blend of fresh whites, striking blues and bold prints. At its core is the open plan kitchen, living and dining area with large picture windows and vaulted ceilings revealing undisturbed ocean vistas from every angle. Complete with state-of-the-art appliances, you’ll find an LG sound system and LG Oled Gallery TVs with full SkyQ access – perfect for relaxing after days spent with walking boots on.
The master bedroom also sits on this floor and has been carefully curated to savour its sea views. Blissfully private, this tranquil haven offers a king size bed for laid back mornings, where the gentle sounds of the coast and a cup of coffee create the perfect elixir.
The remaining two bedrooms sit downstairs along with the family bathroom, cosy snug and utility room. As with the master, bedrooms two and three are both bright and welcoming, finished in marine blues and white wooden accents.
Extending the social space into the fresh air, the 50ft long glass-fronted balcony comes complete with low-slung seating and south west-facing views. Instantly becoming the place to enjoy late afternoon gin spritzers, it’s easy to while away the hours here as waves crash onto the shore below. Alternatively, opt for the lower terrace where a charcoal chimenea promises to keep the celebrations going long after sundown.
The South West Coast Path sits just beyond the terrace, which leads directly onto Porthleven Beach a few steps away, with Gunwalloe and Praa Sands a little further afield. Porthleven itself can be reached within a 10-minute stroll and is known for its harbourside restaurants, idyllic walking routes and hidden coves. The beach welcomes rockpooling and swimming, while the harbour features colourful fishing boats and lapping waters. Book a table at Kota Kai for Asian-inspired seafood dishes or head to The Square for Michelin-worthy mains and delectable wines.

More about theGround Floor
Kitchen, Living and Dining Area
Showcasing glossy whites, deep blues and splashes of hot pink, the open plan living space presents a captivating blend of modern coastal style. Vast apex windows reveal sparkling views and flood the ground floor with plenty of natural light. The kitchen commands the space with dark cabinetry and engineered oak flooring throughout. Here you’ll find a suite of appliances, including a Nespresso Magimix coffee machine, a Quooker tap, Siemens wine cooler, induction hob and a double oven as well as a Blaupunkt dishwasher and fridge freezer.
A central kitchen island is hugged by four bar stools and sits beneath striking pendant lighting, making it the natural setting for those who enjoy a glass of fizz as supper gets underway. The induction hob comes complete with an automatic splashback, meaning cooking remains a sociable affair as everyone gathers around.
Moments from the kitchen, the dining table sits in the centre of the room and is surrounded by six chairs. Soundtrack the evening with a much-loved radio show thanks to the LG soundbar, or simply open up the French doors and listen as the waves crash below.
Once evening rolls around, retire to the living area with its warming, welcoming ambience. Wooden panelling, low ceilings and a sumptuous, curved sofa instantly transform this space into a delightful reading nook or a place for everyone to unwind with a film. And whether you’re catching up with a favourite series or finding a new family favourite, there’s plenty to choose from with access to SkyQ from the LG Oled TV.
You’ll also find a WC on this floor, nestled between the kitchen and the staircase.
Please note: guests with pacemakers should avoid using the induction hob as this can interfere with the device. Additionally, while a fireplace can be seen in some of the photography, this is not available to guests.
Master Bedroom with En-suite
Tucked away at the far end of this floor is the sublime master bedroom. Beautifully decorated in statement blues, this room sits under high ceilings with wooden floors underfoot. Large windows reveal a sparkling ocean backdrop while the king size bed is positioned perfectly for taking in/soaking up the view. Two armchairs also sit close by for anyone wishing to retreat with a book and a pot of tea, and a dressing table and built-in wardrobe provide ample storage space for belongings.
Also benefitting from its own bathroom, relish getting ready for the day in the blue-hued master en-suite, complete with a waterfall shower and bath tub.
Balcony
Stepping out from the upstairs living space, you’ll find the wraparound balcony. Glass-fronted, it provides an idyllic spot for soaking up the ocean panorama – no matter the time of day. Enjoy morning coffees from the low-slung seating or raise celebratory toasts before supper is served. Facing out to sea, the balcony is blessed with the best sunset views in the house, while the winter months bring out incredible storm-watching scenes.
More about theLower Ground Floor
Bedroom Two
The first of the lower ground floor bedrooms and enjoying sparkling ocean views, bedroom two is akin to the master with a vibrant colour scheme and wooden flooring throughout. A white wooden headboard frames the king size bed along with two wall-mounted lights for bedtime reading. Made up of fresh white linens and organic marine throws, this room is stylish and welcoming. For added convenience, there’s a tall chest of drawers and versatile hanging hooks for storing your holiday wardrobe.
An en-suite bathroom sits behind a sliding door and features a waterfall shower, basin and heated towel rail.
Bedroom Three
Also enjoying views out to sea, bedroom three is another sleek and sophisticated space. A teal statement wall complements the home’s coastal colour palette, while beautiful prints keep it vibrant and distinctive. The bed is a zip and link, meaning it can be made up into a super king or a twin, depending on your party’s sleeping arrangements. There’s a large built-in wardrobe and black-out blinds, promising a restful and comfortable stay for everyone.
Snug
Tucked away on the lower ground floor is the cosy snug. Finished in warm orange tones, the space is complemented by a dark blue sofa and a Matisse-inspired print. A bespoke bookshelf fills the right-hand wall, complete with colourful vases and paperback novels. Meanwhile, the LG Smart TV and surround sound provide endless entertainment for rainy days and winter evenings. Also doubling up as another bedroom, the king size sofa bed can be made up for two once the night comes to an end.
Family Bathroom
Enveloped in gentle blues and white tile, the family bathroom is serene and spacious. Serving bedroom three and the snug, it comes complete with a waterfall shower and sumptuous bath tub. There’s also a heated rail, meaning you can enjoy warm fluffy towels after bubble baths.
Utility Room
A handy utility room can also be found on this floor, complete with an additional sink, Bosch washing machine and tumble drier. There's plenty of storage space for sandy beach gear, while the outdoor shower and wetsuit store sits just outside the back door.
More about theExterior
Terrace and outdoor shower
Hugging the sea wall, the terrace area sits just metres from the sea edge and enjoys panoramic views as far as the eye can see. Stepping into the small, paved area from the South West Coast Path itself, there’s an outdoor shower and lockable wetsuit and surfboard store for those returning from the waves. The perfect accompaniment for balmy summer evenings, light the coals and sink into the low-slung seating around the chimenea, sharing stories and raising glasses late into the night.
Parking
There’s parking for one car directly outside the property, while the other two spaces are located a short distance away in a private garage - one in the garage itself and another on the hardstanding outside - here’s where you’ll also find the Ohme EV charger. If you’d like more information about parking, please get in touch with our Property Advisors.

Food and drink
Over the last few years, Porthleven has become a hub for high quality restaurants, cafés and delis. From miso scallops to Cornish duck with pomegranate and star anise, foodies will love the Asian inspired dishes served up at Kota. Set right on the harbour front, it’s a great spot for a quiet meal overlooking the picture-perfect fishing harbour. For something a little more casual, try Amelies, where you can expect excellent service, great Mediterranean food and a laid-back atmosphere. Or if you’re just after a flat white with a slice of cake, look no further than the stylish Origin Coffee Shop at Harbour Head.
Outdoor pursuits
Set just outside Porthleven, Penrose is a beautiful wooded estate featuring Cornwall’s largest natural lake. With miles of tracks and open parkland, it’s an ideal spot for families to enjoy time together and burn off excess energy. If you’re looking for something a little more energetic, try paddle boarding around the picturesque harbour in Porthleven, or hire kayaks from Vertical Blue and explore nearby hidden coves and quiet beaches. For golfers, take time to play the course at Praa Sands or drive 20 minutes to enjoy Mullion Golf Club, the UK’s most southerly course.
Heritage and culture
A trip to St Michael’s Mount is a must for anyone visiting this part of Cornwall. It’s a magical experience for children as they approach the castle along the granite causeway at low tide. 16th-century Godolphin House is a short ten minute drive away and a lovely spot to spend a sunny afternoon. We recommend taking a picnic and enjoying a leisurely lunch amongst the apple trees in the orchard. Alternatively, head south and explore the iconic Lizard Lighthouse, where you’ll discover the hidden maritime history of this rugged coastline.
Activities for children
Nearby Roskilly's Farm will be a surefire hit with children of all ages, featuring animal encounters and a delicious selection of ice creams. Porthleven Spy Museum Treasure Trail is another great option and an exciting way for little ones to explore the area’s monuments and landmarks. For animal lovers, you can’t beat a trip to the nearby Cornish Seal Sanctuary. Feed the seals during morning breakfast rounds or watch these beautiful animals close up in the underwater viewing area.
Festivals and events
The hugely popular Porthleven Food Festival takes over the town for two days every April and welcomes a whole host of renowned chefs, food producers and live music acts. Culdrose Air Day is another great choice, with flying displays, state-of-the art aircraft to explore and lots of family-friendly activities. For an authentic Cornish experience, you can’t miss the ancient Flora Day festival. Enjoy the colourful pageant of Hal an Tow and dance along with the parades as they meander through the town.
