Canine-friendly dining and pedigree pampering

As the summer months wind down and seasonal dog bans lift across many Cornish beaches, there’s no better time to explore the county with your four-legged friends. From hopping on a steam train to booking surfing lessons, our Concierge team can book more than just a walker ahead of your dog-friendly holiday.

Whether you’re celebrating National Dog Day on 26th August or planning a special outing later in the year, here are some of the most unique experiences to try next time you make pawprints in Cornwall…

Jubilee Pool’s Annual Dog Day

Penzance’s Jubilee Pool is a year-round favourite for locals and visitors, offering a sheltered spot to swim away from the waves and open waters. But on 3rd November, it’s all about the dogs. For one day only, this iconic seawater lido opens its doors exclusively to water-loving pups and their wetsuit-clad owners. Whether your dog is a natural swimmer or just up for a paddle, this rare opportunity promises a memorable day by the coast.

Keep an eye on their Instagram for ticket updates.

Dog photography with Rhian White

Capture your dog’s Cornish adventures with a professional photoshoot with Rhian White. Specialising in dog and family photography, Rhian’s relaxed sessions in stunning locations ensure beautiful images that capture your dog’s unique personality. Based in Helston with her two pugs, Betsy and Boo, Rhian has over 15 years of experience and is happy to travel across Cornwall to capture your pup playing on their favourite beach.

Surfing lessons with Wavehunters

For an adventurous day out, try dog surfing with Wavehunters in Polzeath. A much-loved pastime in Cornwall, surfing is even more fun with your furry companion by your side. Wavehunters’ specialist instructors are on hand to guide your dog safely onto a board and into shore, ensuring maximum fun for all. After a session in the waves, head to The Atlantic, where pizzas on the terrace provide the best post-surf treat.

All aboard Bodmin Railway

Step back in time with a ride on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, where dogs are warmly welcomed aboard. This heritage steam railway winds through Cornwall’s picturesque countryside, offering a peaceful and scenic journey. With dog tickets available for most routes, you can enjoy an afternoon chugging through woodlands and chocolate-box villages. Don't forget to pre-order a cream tea for yourself and a dog-friendly scone for your canine companion.

Take to the Camel Trail

The Camel Trail’s flat, accessible paths make it ideal for a dog-friendly walk or cycle. Spanning from Bodmin to Padstow, this 18-mile trail offers stunning views over Cornwall's countryside and coast. Perfect for dogs of all sizes, Bridge Bike Hire even offers trailers for accompanying pups. With dog-friendly cafés, pubs, and rest spots along the way, the Camel Trail is a quintessential north coast activity for the whole family.

Pup cups at Cardinham Woods

Cardinham Woods remains one of our favourite recommendations for those holidaying on Cornwall’s south coast. It’s great for accessibility, it’s family-friendly and dogs love it too. After exploring the beautiful trails, head to Woods Café to treat your dog to a ‘pup cup’ while you peruse the selection of homemade cakes, soups and salads. This dog-friendly delight is the perfect reward after a day of adventure, topped with dairy-free cream and a homemade biscuit for good measure.

Dog-friendly dining at Fowey Hall Hotel

Elevate your dog’s dining experience with Fowey Hall Hotel’s A La Bark menu. Offering a selection of gourmet dishes specifically crafted for dogs, this dining experience ensures your furry friend enjoys a taste of luxury. Whether it’s a "Waggy Tails Tea" with homemade treats or fresh dishes like the "Barkingly Good Beef Supper" from the A La Bark menu, your canine companion will be well looked after. Family-focused, they also offer an extensive children’s menu and mini afternoon tea, making it an ideal spot for those visiting with both tots and paws in tow.

The stunning grounds and mouth-watering menu are perfect for a day trip with dog-friendly Ria Reach located just around the corner.

Pooch plates at the Penventon Park Hotel

For a hearty treat, the Penventon Park Hotel offers an all-day breakfast menu for dogs. Situated near St Ives, the hotel is known for its love of dogs and welcoming atmosphere. Day guests are welcome, and your pup can enjoy a delicious meal, from all-day breakfasts to roast beef ends and omelettes. It’s certainly an indulgent way to start the day and a treat your dog is sure to love before a run on nearby Gwithian Beach.

Take a boat trip

For an adventure on the water, start with a walk along the coast path from Daymer Bay to Rock, then hop on the ferry to Padstow. Your salty sea dog will love the fresh coastal air, and Padstow makes an ideal pet-friendly pitstop. Don't miss Slickers Doghouse on the harbourfront or pick up peanut butter cones from Roskilly’s. Continue your coastal walk over to Hawker’s Cove which remains dog-friendly all year round or hop back on the water taxi to Rock where soft sands and shallow waters provide a playground for pups.

On the south coast, catch the water taxi from Fowey to Polruan, where scenic routes like the Hall Walk and the South West Coast Path await. Lantic Bay and Bodinnick are perfect for year-round dog walks - with dog life jackets provided and welcoming pubs along the way, it’s a great day out for everyone to enjoy.
