Mawgan Porth Beach is dog-friendly all year round. The large expanse of golden sand ensures there’s plenty of room for your canine companion to have fun, with the scenic coastal paths providing further grounds for exploration. Mawgan Porth is known for its spectacular golden beach and breath-taking views. It’s also just around the corner from Bedruthan Steps, one of North Cornwall’s most popular and dramatic coastal landmarks, where large granite towers pepper the sands.
Mawgan Porth has a number of eateries. Catch Seafood Bar and Grill lies next to the beach and serves a traditional Cornish seafood feast as well as delicious steaks, all to the backdrop of the coast. Just up the hill on the western side of the beach lies The Scarlet Restaurant (adults only) where you can tuck into a sophisticated menu that’s full of surprises, yet never strays into the realm of the pretentious. The Merrymoor Inn also lies in Mawgan Porth and offers a highly rated evening menu with a beach-view beer garden. Nearby Watergate Bay is home to Wax Bar and Kitchen, a popular beach restaurant that’s well placed for refuelling after a day on the sands, and Emily Scott Food, a much loved restaurant showcasing a Cornish fish and seafood menu.
Mawgan Porth Beach is spacious and dog-friendly, making it perfect for a family day in the sun. There are plenty of attractions nearby too. Highlights include Lusty Glaze Adventure Centre in Newquay; based on a sheltered beach in Newquay, the centre is an adrenaline junky’s playground, offering the chance to rock climb, walk a tightrope between cliffs, ride a jet ski, learn to surf and much more. Camel Creek Family Theme Park is seven miles away near Wadebridge, where you’ll find traditional thrill rides as well as a 5D cinema and a range of animal experiences.
